What is the diference between a retransfer card printer and a standard direct to card or sublimation printer.

Standard Direct to Card or Sublimation Printers print direct on to the card in one process using a single ribbon. This process can't print over the edge of the card and will always leave a small white line around the edge of the card. 

Retransfer Printers print in a two step process, firstly the design is printed to a film which is then transfered to the card with heat and pressure. This enables the print to go over the edge giving total card coverage, high quality results in plastic card printing with no white line.
